Assignment 3: The difference between "big" and "large"

After checking several sentances showed in the concordancer, I think there is a specific rule to use "big" and "large".

-->When we want to describe an abstract concept or about people, we usually use "big" to describe its degree. In other words, this word refers to its influence.
following are the sentances founded in the concordancer:

-->When we want to describe a physical object its magnitude, we usually use "large" to state its situation. That is, this word refers to its appearence.

->a large size
->a large gap between the footpath and road

Assignment2-Dictionaries

After testing the online dictionaries this time introduced, I choose the Combridge Dictionary as my best  choice. I think the form of dictionary is important. It can not be to complex. Instead, it has to be clear and easy to understand. After reading the article this time talked, I think, in the future, I will try using monolingual dictionaries to help me understand the unfamiliar words.

1.humanitarian adjective
-> connected with improving people's lives and reducing suffering
The UN is sending humanitarian aid to the refugees.

2.stem verb
-> to stop something unwanted from spreading or increasing
The new procedures are intended to stem the flow of drugs into the country.

3.agency noun
-> an international organization or government department
In order to advertise the beauty of Taiwan, travel agency plans to invite famous stars to strengthen its power..

4.jolt verb
-> to shock someone in order to change their behaviour or way of thinking
The charity used photos of starving children in an attempt to jolt the public conscience (= make them feel guilty and take action)

5.rumble verb
-> to make a deep, long sound
The smell of cooking made his stomach rumble.

Introduction

Hello, my name is Shao-Hsi, English name is Leo.Welcome to my blog.Frankly speaking, This is my first time to use blog so I am not familar with its function. However, I will try to understand every function it has.

Now, it's time to talk about me. I'm a junior student, majoring electronic engineering at NTUST located in #43,Keelung Rd.,Taipei. That is, I have studied for two years in NTUST. Looking back that time, I really learn many things and doing something valuable during that time. If you are a freshmen, I really congratulate you on becoming a member of NTUST. If not, I hope you can understand what I mean.

My interest is reading. I am sure that's the most favorable thing I like to do Reading can bring me to the world author presents. Sometimes it eases my anxiety, sometimes it fills my imagination, and sometimes it tells me many knowledges. Although reading is my hobby, I still doing other things like biking, listening music.
Compar with other things I do, reading makes me more relaxed and enjoyed!
